I love LUSH. Could I even be a vegan lifestyle blogger if I didn’t??
Seriously, though, the ethical handmade cosmetic company has always held a special place in my heart. When I was a teenager I would get the train to London to visit the Covent Garden store just to pick up a bar of Miranda soap (my name was on a thing!!!! My name, the name that was never on keyring or magnets in souvenir shops was on a bar of green, kiwi-scented soap. Soap that would sit in a pile of its own goo on the side of the bath for months on end, completely unused but still. Amazing).
Obviously I love the LUSH ethos – cruelty-free, vegetarian with many vegan products, ethically-sourced ingredients and ‘naked’ packaging. It’s a hippie dream. I have my usual staple products that I buy year round, such as the Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, Mint Julips lip scrub, Ocean Salt Body Scrub, Breath of Fresh Air Toner and Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, but I like to switch it up every few months or so when LUSH brings out their seasonal creations.
Today is Easter, and while I’m known for being a fiendish chocoholic who will gobble up Moo Free and dark chocolate eggs like there’s no tomorrow, I’m trying to be a bit healthier this year. I still feel like I deserve a treat, though – and what says Treat Yo Self more than four luxurious LUSH bath bombs?
I headed to LUSH’s Oxford Street store on Wednesday to pick up a couple of things from their Easter collection (and had to stop myself walking away with the entire shop). Here’s what I got.
Spring Bunny Bath Bomb
LUSH says: Like all the most healthy bunnies, this one is packed full of carrot. As it bounds around the bath, the vivid aroma of Sicilian lemon shoots to the surface, tangled with carrot oil and Fair Trade organic cocoa butter. A mischievous adventurer, why not hide it around the garden or house for an alternative Easter hunt? If you find it in time, spring to the bath for a sunny, energising treat. Quickly though, if not it will be just some bunny that you used to know…
I say: This is one fresh-smelling bunny rabbit. The bright yellow dust rubs off on just about everything the bath bomb touches, but I can’t wait to have an uplifting, spring-cleaning bath with this little fellow.
Bunch of Carrots Bubble Bars
LUSH says: Dig up the dirt on refreshing tropical bathing with this adorable trio of carrots. Hold one of these reusable carrots under running water to send bubbly clouds of buchu, lemon and grapefruit oils scurrying across your bath, and then pop it on the side for next time. The distinctive, bright colours of this heritage bunch make it an attractive addition to Easter baskets and Easter bathtimes alike
I say: God, these are so photogenic. I was terrified of them snapping in my bag as I carried them home, but they made it back from Central London in one piece. The purple one smells particularly good, and online reviews say each carrot has about three baths-worth of bubbles in it. Excellent value.
Golden Egg Bath Bomb
LUSH says: How do you like your eggs in the morning? Toffee-scented, molten gold and packed full of Fair Trade Colombian cocoa butter? Soak in a dazzling bath of moisturising olive oil and golden lustre until your skin feels softer than caramel and smells more chocolatey than Mr Wonka’s factory. Uplifting bergamot and sweet, wild orange oils help to tone and brighten, giving a sweet fruitiness to this most luxurious soak.
I say: If you like getting glitter ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE, this bath bomb is for you. I am a glitter-lover, but I must admit I draw the line at finding gold bits in my hair days after holding this product for a photo. Smells like delicious, sweet toffee though, so that’s a plus.
Guardian of the Forest Bath Bomb
LUSH says: See with eyes uncovered as you find the spirit of the forest, dappled with mossy greens and soft with the shimmer of lustre. Prickly on the senses at first, the calming cypress and mystical oakmoss absolute will embrace you, drawing you into the bright, sunlit heart of this woodland bomb, packed full of fragrant rosewood oil. One to faun over.
I say: OK so technically this isn’t part of the Easter collection, but it is perfect for Spring. I tried this bath bomb out yesterday, and although in my head I was thinking ‘swamp water’, it was actually very refreshing and made me feel like a forest nymph or mystical elf or something. Didn’t leave any messy residue in the bath either. 10/10.
